About this work…

Danby Street is an Aquatint Etching that has 51 individually torn pieces of Chine Collé (collage) arranged on the paper before the etched image is printed on top. It is a still life scene at my Kitchen table.

Living on Danby Street in a modest Victorian house in Peckham, Southeast London, I draw inspiration from a domestic scene. The house with its worn walls and draughty windows, reflects the practical choices she has made as an artist. It is a space marked by a quiet, determined search for beauty — the choice of a lemon-print oilcloth and ordinary store-bought roses brightening the gloomy interior. These small acts of defiance give insight to the daily life of pursuing artistic curiosity with a sense of Joie de Vivre.
